Calling All Budding Adventure Filmmakers: Serac Adventure Film School (June 4 to 7)

So you’ve memorized K2 shot for shot, have taken extensive notes on your Warren Miller collection, and are now looking to make an adventure film of your own. Those wishing to break in or to improve their skills might consider enrolling in Serac Adventure Film School, where students gain hands-on learning experience under the tutelage of some of the world’s best adventure filmmakers. Founded by renowned director Michael Brown, Serac has led its students to the summit of Kilimanjaro, across the Andes to Machu Picchu, and on to successful careers in the industry.

Serac’s next offering: a weeklong session covering the Teva Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado, June 4-7. Students will record athletes kayaking, rafting, climbing, and racing throughout the Rocky Mountain wonderland, while assembling their footage in an Apple-outfitted production studio. Instructors will be on deck every step of the way to advise students about story building, Final Cut Pro software, and the ins and outs of the editing process. 

The completed films will be presented at Serac’s closing ceremony and then posted to the Teva Mountain Games website. And who knows, after a week with Serac maybe you’ll be ready to hit the festival circuit. Brown would be a good judge; after all, not only does he make award-winning films, he also happens to have a history with the Banff Centre….
