National Geographic ADVENTURE is a magazine for people who actively pursue outdoor sports and global travel and want to know what's happening now--and what's coming next--in the world of adventure. Its hallmarks are great writing from some of the best journalists working today, photography that stands firmly in the National Geographic tradition, and detailed guides that help readers plan and experience adventures of their own. Since launching in April 1999, ADVENTURE's rate base has steadily risen to 600,000 and now reaches 2.4 million readers, more than any other magazine in its genre.

About the Authors
DEEP SURVIVAL - Contributing Editor Laurence Gonzales won the 2001 and 2002 National Magazine Awards from the American Society of Magazine Editors for National Geographic ADVENTURE magazine. Since 1970, his essays have appeared in such periodicals as Harper's, Rolling Stone, Men's Journal, National Geographic ADVENTURE, Smithsonian Air and Space, Chicago Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, and many others.

His latest book Deep Survival is available now in paperback from W.W. Norton & Company, and around the world in English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Italian, and Spanish.

ADVENTURE TRAVEL - Global Travel Editor Costas Christ serves as the Chairman of Judges for the World Travel and Tourism Council's Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, which recognizes best practices within the global travel industry. He writes the World Class colum for with National Geographic ADVETNURE magazine and was a founding member and former Chairman of the Board of the International Ecotourism Society. He is on the advisory board of the Adventure Travel World Summit, is co-founder of the Adventure Council, and also serves on the board of directors of Sustainable Travel International. His travels and work have taken him to more than 120 countries across six continents, including expeditions to some of the world's most remote wilderness areas and archeological sites. Christ's articles and essays on travel and tourism have appeared in publications, including the International Herald Tribune, New York Times, Boston Globe, and Sunday Times of London. He is the lead author of Tourism and Biodiversity: Mapping Tourism Global Footprint and a contributing author in Wilderness: Earth's Last Wild Places.
